250$ Donation to Enable an old grandmother to provide a better life for a disabled grandchild
Ty is an eight year old boy living in Bac Giang. He was born with cerebral palsy and polio disabilities. Because his parents got divorced and abandoned him, he was raised by his loving grandmother in a simple home. His conditions have caused him to be bedridden and isolated. As a result, he is not only physically challenged but mentally deprived as well. These thig combined have left him in a nearly infantile state and he must rely on his grandmother for everything. She works as a farmer and the two of them live in abject poverty.
Five donated pigs will help provide Ty and her grandmother with a less difficult living condition, with which the grandmother is going to earn about USD125 per month on average. “I wants to have enough financial capability to afford medicine for Ty. Hopefully, Ty can play with his friends and go to school someday” Ty’s grandmother said.
Pigs generate a much-needed income boost by raising and selling at the market. A little pig costs about USD 50 in Vietnam and it is likely to take breeders 4 months to have a one ready to be sold at the market. Profit for raising a porker is about USD 100, which is not much but could help ensure stable income for Ty and his grandmother.

60$ Donation to enable a girl to go to school
Vo Kim Cat Uyen is a nine-year-old girl living in a family of five in Hoang Dieu Street. This little girl suffers from mobility disability which is suspected to be the result from exposure to dioxin. The other members in her family include her old grandmother and her younger sister. Their lives get harder and harder every day.
Uyen wa born disabled, but always held on to her hope of going to school. Understanding Uyen’s passion as well as being aware of the value of education, her parents decided to let their daughter go to school despite their financial situation. But it’s becoming more difficult to continue Uyen’s schooling, and her condition continues to worsen. Her mother must quit her job of selling noodles to take care of Uyen, her younger sister, and her own mother. With the small amount of 75 USD per month that Uyen’s father can manage to earn as a motorbike driver, the family can hardly afford the necessities. Thanks to the kind help from Children of Vietnam, Uyen’s is now attending Hung Vuong Primary School on a public scholarship, and the family’s finances have been improved. Still, they are in need of more help to ensure the two children a good future with a sufficient education.
With just a small donation of US$60, you can help her parents to purchase all her 4th grade set of books, notebooks, pencils and other school supplies..Your assistance will be welcomed by Uyen’s family with the greatest gratitude.

500$ Donation to Enable a girl to chase her dream
Luu Thi Thu Nuong is a 10-year-old girl with a congenital mobility disability living in Quang Ngai. Nuong doesn’t have a father. She lives with her mother, grandmother and aunt. The family noticed Nuong’s disbility when she was 1 year old. The girl’s body was not the same as other children of her age. Her hands and legs were unusually weak. However, Nuong’s family couldn’t afford to take her to the hospital for treatment. The little girl has to grow up with her disability.
She’s a 5th grader at Tinh Phong No.2 Primary School. Because of her disability, it isn’t safe for her to go to school on her own. Everyday, her mother or other members of the family have to take her to school. Although Nuong is very weak, she tries to do all that she can to help her mother by washing dishes or sweeping the floor. She’s often sick, and her general health and mobility is deteriorating day by day. As a farmer, he mother doens’t earn much, but Nuong is thankfully able to attend school because of support through the East Meets West foundation. This is a tremendous help to Nuong and her family, but still their standard of living is extremely low and live in abject poverty every day.
At school Nuong is the best student in her class. Realizing her family’s condition, Nuong studies hard to become a teacher so that she’ll be able to give her family a better life.
Nuong’s mother’s biggest wish is that the girl can complete her studies at school. She wants to provide more for her daughter and take better care of her. She plans to invest in breeding cows and pigs. In order to do that, she’ll need 500 USD. Your donation will give the poor mother a chance to increase her family’s income and help make Nuong’s dream come true.

Give a pair of orthopedic shoes
120$ donation to enable a disabled girl walk on her own feet
It is extremely hard for children who are unable to walk to get along with other children at their age. Seeing their peers run and play while they have to depend on other people for the most basic necessities of life, they have an inferiority complex about their disability. And that feeling will become even greater when they grow up. Fortunately, with supportive equipments like orthopedic shoes, children with mobility problams can now stand and walk on their own feet, gain more independence and improve their lifestyles.
Nguyen Pham Nhu Y, a girl with cerebral palsy, and her family are yearning for a chance to have that extraordinary experience. She was born in 2007 in a poor family in Quang Nam province. Having a mother who abandoned her when she was just a baby and a father who lives far away for work, Nhu Y hardly knows what it’s like to be showered with parents’ love like most other kids. She is brought up by her grandparents and her uncle instead. Her 56-year-old grandfather works in his small barber shop and her uncle works as an electrician while her grandmother works on their family’s rice field. Alarmed that she still couldn’t move at all by the time she was 3, her family had to take her to a doctor. The news that their poor grandchild was suffering from cerebral palsy came as a great shock to Nhu Y’s grandparents.
Knowing that it’s very hard for Nhu Y to be cured completely, all that her family wants is a chance for her to be able to walk normally. To achieve that, Nhu Y needs a pair of orthopedic shoes which is about $120.00. Nhu Y’s grandmother said: “All I could wish for is that my grandchild could walk and move around like other children. Just seeing her is already a great joy to us.” However with her family meager income, that small wish seems to be out of the question.
This cause was recommended by Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation(VVAF) through the Dioxin Resolution Initiatives in Vietnam Project. Please kindly donate to VVAF so that it can help Nguyen Pham Nhu Y’s family and similar causes improve their lives effectively and sustainably.
